STV Player content expands as performance grows

Scottish broadcaster STV is adding 270 hours more of new content and two live streaming channels to its STV Player.

The player is the home for the ITV Network schedule in Scotland, alongside STV’s regional productions, and a slate of Pleyer-only content.

Online viewing for STV content has grown by 80% during the first quarter of 2020.

STV’s Player-exclusive content is increasingly popular amongst viewers and accounted for 21% of streams in Q1.

Richard Williams, STV’s Managing Director, Digital, said: “Our Player-only content is growing increasingly popular, with a number of our 50 box sets regularly jumping into the top ten most-watched shows.”

New deals have been struck with Endemol Shine, Stingray Qello, DUST, Flame and Konnect Digital. This includes Gracepoint (pictured), the US version of Broadchurch, starring David Tennant and Anna Gunn; Australian hit legal drama, Crownies; and The Bridge, the US version of the Danish/Swedish Scandi Noir,

Stingray’s Qello Concerts is the world’s largest collection of full-length concerts and music documentaries streamed 24/7. With performances from Queen and Bon Jovi to Lady Gaga and Beyonce.

Gunpowder and Sky’s live channel DUST is a 24/7 stream destination for imaginative science fiction. Viewers can experience a handpicked selection of light hearted comedies, dystopian thrillers and striking futuristic visions featuring performances by Daniel Kaluuya, Evan Rachel Wood and Guy Pearce.
