Telugu Film Producers Council (TFCC) draws up resolutions, imposes curbs on OTT releases

The Telugu Film Producers’ Council along with Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday came out with resolutions on various issues plaguing Tollywood including OTT platform releases, ticket prices and production costs, among others. As per the resolution, big budget new films will be released on OTT platforms after 10 weeks of its release in theatres while low budget films will be released after 4 weeks.

As far as ticket prices are concerned, Telangana Film Chamber proposed ticket rates of Rs. 125 in multiplexes, Rs. 100 in cities while tickets in ‘C-Class centres’ could be priced at Rs. 70, the letter read. Virtual Print Fee (VPF) charges will be borne by the exhibitors, the release added. Additionally, for high budget movies, tickets must be priced at Rs. 150 at multiplexes and Rs. 100 at single screens.

It also said that managers and co-ordinator systems must be completely eliminated as managers tend to mislead producers. The release also said that actors have to cooperate with producers to complete shoots on time while staff payments should be borne from actors’ remuneration. Earlier this month, producers contemplated stopping film shootings from August 1 due to rising production costs and to ‘restructure the industry’ to ensure its survival. News9 Live
