Thanthi TV Network forays into the Tamil entertainment industry with Thanthi One

A brand new Tamil GEC Thanthi One was launched by Thanthi TV Network on 19th May 2024. The launch of Thanthi One marked the network’s entry into the General Entertainment Channel (GEC) sector. Thanthi One is the second channel launched by Thanthi TV Network after Thanthi TV, a 24-hour Tamil news TV channel.

Thanthi One caters majorly dubbed content with a lineup of Hindi and Malayalam dubbed shows such as Bala Krishna, Ilavarasi, Karnan and Veera Anjaneya to name a few along with the re-airing of old Tamil classic serials. Also, Thanthi One telecasts movies dubbed into Tamil from different languages. Further, the channel has adopted elements of yellow, pink and purple colours in its graphics package.

Thanthi TV was launched on 13th November 2012
Initially, New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) and The Hindu Group launched NDTV Hindu which was a Chennai definite English news and entertainment channel on 16th May 2009. Later, on 13th November 2012, Tamil language daily newspaper group, Dina Thanthi took over the channel and rechristened it as Thanthi TV. The channel was relaunched as a 24-hour Tamil news channel broadcasting across Tamil Nadu. Thanthi TV is one of the most viewed Tamil news channels.

Apart from being prevalent in the News channel sector, Thanthi TV Network also marked its entry into the GEC sector with the launch of Thanthi One. Currently, all the major DTH platforms except Sun Direct have added the channel with Tata Play being the first DTH to onboard the channel. DreamDth
