TRAI releases consultation paper on ‘Connectivity to Access Service VNOs from more than one NSO’
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has today released a Consultation Paper on ‘Connectivity to Access Service VNOs from more than one NSO’.
Department of Telecommunications (DoT), through a reference dated 07.07.2023, requested TRAI to provide its recommendations under Section 11(1)(a) of TRAI Act, 1997 (as amended) on the following issues in respect of connectivity to access service VNOs from more than one NSO:
- Appropriate number of network service operators (NSOs) with whom virtual network operators (VNOs) having Access Service authorization and providing wireline services can be permitted to take connectivity in a licensed service area (LSA); and
- VNOs having Access Service authorization and providing both wireless and wireline services can be permitted to take connectivity from one NSO for wireless services and other NSO for wireline services in an LSA.
In this regard, a Consultation Paper on ‘Connectivity to Access Service VNOs from more than one NSO’ for seeking comments from stakeholders has been placed on TRAI’s website (www.trai.gov.in). Written comments on the issues raised in the Consultation Paper are invited from stakeholders by 22.03.2024 and counter-comments by 05.04.2024.
