Union Budget is scheduled for July 23

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the first Union Budget (FY25) of PM Narendra Modi’s third term on July 23. Sitharaman is all set to create history as she presents the Budget for the seventh consecutive time, which includes six full Budgets and one Interim Budget.

The finance minister has held pre-budget consultations with industry stakeholders since June 20.

Expectations from the Budget have been high and were fuelled further when President Droupadi Murmu in her joint address said that it will see “many historic steps”. “This Budget will be an effective document of the government’s far-reaching policies and futuristic vision. Along with major economic and social decisions, many historic steps will also be seen in this budget… The pace of reforms will be further accelerated in tune with the aspirations of the people of India for rapid development,” she said on June 27.

The Budget Session of Parliament will commence a day earlier, on July 22, and will run through until August 12, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.

The newly elected Indian government will present its first Union Budget in the lower house of Parliament on July 23, Kiren Rijiju, minister of parliamentary affairs said in a post on social media platform X on Saturday.

The Budget presented will be for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
